Benjamin Hoffman, Adjunct Faculty in the History Department at the University of Delaware
Ben Hoffman earned his Ph.D. in history from the University of Houston in 2016, after completing a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Maryland in 2010. His research focuses on approaches to teaching historical argumentation and the history of education in the United States and the world. In his classes, Dr. Hoffman emphasizes scaffolded analysis of primary and secondary sources to allow students to develop nuanced interpretations of historical subjects. His dissertation ("A College for the Community?") compared the historical impact of community colleges in rural versus urban settings. Dr. Hoffman co-authored articles appearing in the History of Education Quarterly and Theory and Research in Social Education.
