- HIST316, EDUC419, EDUC414 & EDUC413 must be completed before their senior year.
- Second Writing Requirement should be satisfied by the end of junior year.
- Students should complete one Inquiry and Analysis portfolio entry draft in the fall semester and make an appointment with the Social Studies Education Coordinator to go over this draft.
- Remind students of the strict GPA requirements for acceptance into Student Teaching: 2.75 Cumulative GPA & 3.0 Major GPA must be obtained by February of junior Year.
- The deadline for student teaching applications is in February after the start of Spring Semester (submitted one year before expected date of student teaching). Students are required to turn in 4 of 6 Inquiry and Analysis Portfolio entries, as well as the application materials. Copies of these materials will be available on the Social Studies Education website beginning in January.
- Remind students to submit passing scores on the CORE (formerly PRAXIS I) to the University of Delaware before applying for student teaching. Please note: Students may be exempt from taking all or part of the Praxis CORE exam if they meet certain qualifications such as GPA requirements or achieving a "college ready" score on tests that measure reading, writing and math such as SAT or ACT. The Office of Clinical Studies provides more information.
- Confirm that all coursework will be satisfied by desired graduation date. No courses can be taken during student teaching other than the required EDUC 400 & HIST 493 courses.
For History Education majors entering Main Campus from the Associate in Arts program (AAP)
