African American Public Humanities
Initiative (AAPHI). It is ideal for students interested in a PhD in
the Humanities with an interest in African American history. We offer
graduate training that emphasizes public scholarship, community
outreach, collections-based research and digital humanities.
The African American Public Humanities Initiative provides stipend support for PhD students in
History, English and Art History in a five year, 12-month cohort-based program.
The
initiative includes: tuition remission and yearly stipend for five
years, professional development funds for each academic year, summer
research/ internship funding, an
internationally recognized faculty engaged in innovative research in
digital scholarship, public humanities and material culture studies, and
prime location in the middle of one of the most important cultural hubs
in the world - midway between NYC and Washington
DC, close to Philadelphia and Baltimore.
