The Department of History at the University of
Delaware (UD) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Latinx
History at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 16, 2020.
Area of specialization is open. A Ph.D. is required by the start date;
fields other than History are welcome provided that the candidate’s
research draws on historical methodology. The successful candidate will
be a committed researcher and teacher who can engage students in
introductory surveys, upper-division undergraduate courses, and graduate
seminars using both historical and interdisciplinary approaches. We
seek a colleague whose teaching, research, and service will exemplify
UD’s core values of diversity and inclusive excellence. We are committed
to hiring a scholar who shows exceptional promise as a leader in the
field and in our department.
In addition to pursuing an ambitious research agenda and enhancing
the department’s course offerings in Latinx history, the appointee will
be expected to play an active role in the College of Arts and Sciences’
Latin American and Iberian Studies program, including supporting the
development of a Latinx concentration. There is potential for
collaboration with additional interdisciplinary initiatives in areas
such as digital history and public humanities, Museum Studies, Material
Culture Studies, and Women and Gender Studies. The successful candidate
will join a department of twenty-nine core faculty with an extensive
record of high-quality scholarship and existing strengths in U.S. and
global history, museum studies, and material culture. Teaching
responsibilities are two courses per semester.
