History graduate students in the Museum Studies program spent their winter session at the Delaware Historical Society Research Library in Wilmington, Delaware under the direction of Prof. Katherine Grier. Their archival adventures are detailed in a recent UDaily article written by Ann Manser. For 10 years, students in the program (dubbed the SWAT Team) have provided assistance to a local museum or historical site while gaining hands-on
experience and marketable career skills.
Since 1972, the University of Delaware’s Museum Studies Program has
introduced students to successful careers in museums, historic sites,
and cultural agencies and organizations. The 12-credit program is open
to any University of Delaware graduate student enrolled in a
degree-granting program. Students take a minimum of 9 credit hours of
classes and complete a three – credit internship to receive the
Certificate in Museum Studies.
