Biography
John Davies received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Delaware in 2009. In his classes, students learn to think historically by developing critical thinking skills through the evaluation of information and by making connections between individuals in their social and cultural context, social and political structures, and the events and developments that we describe as history. His research on the experiences of black refugees from the Haitian Revolution and their interactions with blacks and whites in the United States has been published in the collected volume Commodification, Community, and Comparison in Slave Studies, published by LSU Press, and in the Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography.
